Múlt pénteken Tom Weidlinger filmrendező, a budapesti születésű és Amerikában hírnevet szerzett statikus mérnök, Weidlinger Pál fia volt a vendégünk a Walter Rózsi-villában. Tom Weidlinger „Egy nyughatatlan magyar” címmel írt könyvet és forgatott filmet apja fordulatokkal teli életéről. Az eseményen levetítésre került a film, majd munkatársunk, Sebestyén Ágnes Anna beszélgetett a szerzővel. A beszélgetésen szóba került Weidlinger Pál kapcsolata Breuer Marcell építésszel, és további részletek derültek ki Tom Weidlinger munkájáról, arról, hogyan és hol kutatott apja munkássága után, hogyan talált vissza a magyar gyökereihez és hogyan nézett szembe a múlt traumáival.
Last Friday, we welcomed the film director Tom Weidlinger in the Rózsi Walter Villa. Tom is the son of the Budapest-born structural engineer, Paul Weidlinger, who became world-famous in the postwar era in the USA. Tom made a film and wrote a book with the title “The Restless Hungarian” about the fascinating life of his father. In our event, we screened the film and then our curator, Ágnes Anna Sebestyén moderated a discussion with Tom. During the conversation, they spoke about Paul Weidlinger’s connection to the architect Marcel Breuer, discussed Tom’s working method and how and where he researched his father’s legacy, as well as how he reconnected to his Hungarian roots and how he faced the traumas of the past.
